Grosvenor Engineering Group Pty Ltd sought assistance in the restoration and cleaning of a chilled water coil located in a main air handling unit which services the lobby, administration, executive offices and bar area of a prominent Gold Coast hotel.
The coil was contaminated and blocked with carbon type solid deposits that had accumulated over the 30 year life of the coil. Specialist contractors called in to unblock the coil had used conventional enzyme-based coil cleaners over a period of two months and after several attempts had failed to completely clear the coil.
A team from Grosvenor Engineering Group Pty Ltd and SuperCool Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, led by the US chemist who founded Refrigeration Technologies, John Pastorello, applied their unique coil cleaning products and specific cleaning techniques to clear the blockage over a three day period. This amount of time was needed to systematically break down and dislodge congealed dirt, grime and grease, with particular emphasis on rock hard carbon deposits which had lodged firmly within the internal cells of the coil.
This outstanding result has saved the hotel from a projected significant chilled water coil replacement that due to location and size was identified as high risk. This result will no doubt lower energy consumption costs, and greatly improve air quality in the areas serviced. Watch the dramatic video of the coil cleaning operation.
